Kenya Kathakwa AA

Kenya Kathakwa AA
We’re super excited to bring this washed Kenya to our lineup. With tasting notes of rosemary, pear, and lemon peel. Bright, clean, and wildly complex—this one is something special.
…and not just because it tastes amazing. This is Marisa’s very first coffee purchase with Gallery!
We tasted this coffee during a cupping with Red Fox (our coffee importers) late last summer—nearly 20 cups lined up on the bar. After working our way through the table, we landed on one of the very last cups… and Marisa immediately called dibs on bringing it home.
Tasting Highlights: rosemary, pear, and lemon peel.
Special Farm Notes:
Our new Kenya comes from Kathakwa Factory in Embu County, on the slopes of Mount Kenya. This washed coffee is produced by over 1,100 smallholder farm members, most farming just 1–2 hectares and growing classic Kenyan varieties. Washed coffee is fermented for 16–18 hours in cement tanks, then dried on raised African beds, resulting in a clean, vibrant cup. Kathakwa is deeply committed to sustainability, water conservation, and farmer education—supporting long-term quality and opportunity for the community.
